Our Minneapolis rug inventory consists of hand-made and machine-made items with a remarkable finish. The most common types of weaves found in our rugs include:
Hand-knotted rugs are intricate masterpieces because of their attention to detail and craftsmanship. It takes months of production to create these durable pieces that can withstand the test of time. Thousands upon thousands of knots are individually hand-tied around warp threads on specially designed looms. Centuries-old techniques are used to pass these rugs down from generation to generation.
Flat-woven rugs are also marvelous pieces that can elevate the look of your space. Its lack of pile is what sets it apart from a hand-knotted rug. As low-maintenance pieces, they are ideal for your home. Artisans use the Soumak weave when creating these area rugs.
Our inventory also includes machine-made pieces which can either be power- or machine-loomed. Like other types of rugs, they use natural materials or synthetic fibers. However, they are produced a lot quicker than handmade rugs and require less labor. By choosing machine-made carpets, you can get the most of the characteristics of handmade ones at an affordable price.
Symbolic designs and lavish patterns breathe life into an otherwise drab area rug surface. That’s why most homeowners or collectors pay attention to design when choosing a rug. But apart from design, vibrant colors can also be a huge defining factor that could influence your decision to buy a certain rug or not.
A rug’s color can dictate the ambiance and mood of an entire room, for instance. They come in a range of hues and shades including blue, brown, green, black, gold, and white. These colors aren’t just randomly picked out; they are meticulously chosen to achieve a unique look.
Different colors carry different meanings. For example, green signifies prosperity, health, and growth, while red is associated with passion, luck, and vitality. Meanwhile, blue gives off a sense of peace, trust, and loyalty, making it a common color used in carpets. Gold, on the other hand, communicates opulence and refinement. Some rugs may combine specific colors for added depth and definition.
Enhance the overall aesthetic of your space with our area rugs in Minneapolis. Here are some tips that you can keep in mind when placing these rugs in your home:
Experiment by placing different colored rugs in various spaces of your interior. If you want your decorative ornaments and architectural elements to be the star of your space, then decorate with a neutral-colored rug. If you prefer bold colors that stand out, a vivid colored rug is your best choice.
Create themes when decorating with rugs. For instance, rugs with soft surfaces and dream-like, abstract patterns can provide a calming effect, making it perfect for your bedroom. Meanwhile, brown and beige area rugs can recreate the sandy landscapes of a beach. Place them on your porch or patio to give it a brighter, playful look.
A light-colored rug can create an illusion that makes small spaces appear larger. So use this decor hack to your advantage when decorating your household.
Rugs have various textures that can add depth to a room. Soft rugs, for example, can add comfort and texture to rough wood floors and abrasive cement textiles.
Size is vital in rug decoration, as well. So before you choose a rug, measure the size of your room and visualize if it’ll be a great fit for your space.
For larger spaces, you may want to use two or more rugs to divide your space into sections or “islands.”
Prevent trips and other accidents by installing a rubber pad underneath your rugs. Make sure that the pad is smaller than the actual rug, however, so it doesn’t peek out of the edges of your rug.
Rugs can also be placed on walls. Dress up your wall and make it your focal point. This approach adds texture to your wall instead of on the floor.
Seasons change, and so could your preference. With that said, consider changing the decor and arrangement of your rooms every now and then. Installing different rugs lets the current one on display take a breather. Moreover, switching up your rugs allows each piece to even out its natural aging.
